Compensation CCNL Level (Area) B1. The salary will be commensurate with the titles and experience. The Gross Annual Retribution (RAL) ranges from EUR 33,000 to 39,000.

EPOS ERIC Call for the EPOS ICS Monitoring Specialist Position

1. About EPOS ERIC The European Plate Observing System (EPOS) is the European Research Infrastructure for solid Earth science operated by the European Research Infrastructure Consortium (EPOS ERIC). EPOS integrates leading national organizations dedicated to monitoring and investigating the dynamic and complex Earth system. Through a single, sustainable platform, it provides access to data, data products, software, services and facilities. EPOS ERIC is responsible for the operation of the Research Infrastructure and for coordinating the implementation and management of the EPOS Integrated Core Services (ICS), which constitute the e-infrastructure of EPOS and enable interdisciplinary access to solid Earth science resources across Europe. To support the operation, monitoring and continuous enhancement of the EPOS Integrated Core Services, EPOS ERIC is seeking a highly motivated and qualified professional for the position of EPOS ICS Monitoring Specialist.

2. Position Summary The EPOS ICS Monitoring Specialist will contribute to monitoring, reporting and continuous improvement of the EPOS Integrated Core Services, as well as the Thematic Core Services integrated into the EPOS Platform. The successful candidate will work with a high degree of autonomy to support the monitoring of the EPOS e- infrastructure, contribute to service reliability, availability, and observability, and collaborate closely with technical teams across the EPOS community. The role also includes supporting reporting and documentation activities and assisting in incident and problem management processes.

3. Main Duties and Responsibilities The chosen candidate will carry out the following activities:

• Perform and support routine maintenance and monitoring activities of the services integrated within the EPOS Platform, ensuring operational continuity, reliability and compliance with established technical procedures.
• Collaborate with the IT Team for the infrastructure architecture analysis, monitoring and improvement, while contributing to enhanced observability, automation and operational efficiency.
• Implement procedures for producing monitoring reports, service performance analysis and operational documentation, and prepare technical summaries and periodic reports for EPOS ERIC governance and operational bodies.
• Interact with Thematic Core Service IT specialists for the coordination of operational activities related to the service monitoring and management.
• Support incident management processes through monitoring systems and ticketing tools, track, document and follow up on issues reported by stakeholders, assist with root-cause analysis and problem management activities, and maintain accurate records of incidents and resolutions within designated tracking systems.
• Participate in relevant meetings, workshops and any other initiatives to present and report on the results of the service monitoring activities.

4. Mandatory Qualifications and Professional Experience Applicants must satisfy the following requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related disciplines; alternatively, at least three (3) years of relevant professional experience in a comparable position or operational environment.
• Eligibility to work within the European Union.

5. Professional Experience, Qualifications and Skills The ideal candidate should demonstrate experience and competence in the following areas:

• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Zabbix or equivalent solutions.
• Experience with Python and Bash scripting.
• Ability to automate operational and infrastructure management tasks.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs.
• Experience with metadata standards, controlled vocabularies and ontologies.
• Experience with semantic interoperability approaches and data integration practices.
• Strong understanding of FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable) data principles.
• Familiarity with research data management and open science environments.
• Ability to produce high-quality technical documentation.
• Experience in preparing operational reports and technical analyses.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary and distributed teams.
• Excellent command of spoken and written English (minimum level B2/C1 or equivalent).
