Purpose EPOS ERIC is looking for a motivated and skilled Object-Oriented software developer with basic system architect competencies, who will support the IT Officer in the review, maintenance and technical development necessary to ensure the operation of the EPOS Integrated Core Services system software platform at an adequate level of operational quality.

Brief Description of the European Plate Observing System (EPOS) EPOS (European Plate Observing System) is the pan-European research infrastructure aimed at ensuring sustainable use and re-use of multidisciplinary solid Earth science data and products fostering state-of-the-art research and innovation. EPOS is committed to establishing and underpinning sustainable and long-term access to solid Earth science data and services integrating diverse European research infrastructures under a common federated framework. EPOS ERIC is the legal entity established by the European Commission on October the 30th 2018 to coordinate and integrate national and international research infrastructures forming the EPOS Delivery Framework. Based in Rome, Italy, EPOS ERIC is currently constituted by 12 Members: Belgium, Denmark, France, Greece, Iceland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia and the United Kingdom, and 1 Observer: Switzerland. The governing body of EPOS ERIC is the General Assembly (GA). EPOS ERIC is an important player within the international research infrastructure landscape. It builds on the achievements of past European projects that have engaged more than 138 diverse research institutions, universities, and organizations from 25 European countries as well as 5 international organizations. For further information: www.epos-eric.eu Job Mission and Main Responsibilities EPOS ERIC is looking for a motivated and skilled Object-Oriented software developer with basic system architect competencies, who will support the IT Officer in the review, maintenance and technical development necessary to ensure the operation of the EPOS Integrated Core Services system software platform at an adequate level of operational quality. This includes developments activities in Object Oriented Programming languages (Java) and e-Infrastructural activities needed to improve and maintain the software platform (Code versioning, CI/CD). All activities will be carried out in a collaborative way within an existing IT team. In particular, s/he will be responsible for:

• Development of services in a Micro Services framework
• Study and analyze innovative technical solutions for improving the Micro-service based system
• Maintenance and documentation of the existing software
• Manage and administrate databases based
• Liaise as responsible person between small groups of developers and the IT Officer
• Regularly report to the IT Officer about work performed and related issues. Essential Skills and Competences
• Bachelor degree in Computing Science (In Italy “Laurea Triennale”) or in scientific, engineering, math realms, or relevant experience (at least three years) in OO development in microservices oriented architecture systems and related technologies (RabbitMQ, Mosquitto)
• Advanced skills in Unix-Like system usage and administration
• Documented experience in development with the following languages, frameworks and dev environments: - JAVA and Python (Advanced skills required) - C, C++, PHP, HTML, Javascript (Good skills required) - Spring, EclipseLink, ECLIPSE Rich Client Platform, Swagger, Apache Jena, Plot.ly - Eclipse, NetBeans, Visual Studio
• Good skills in web technologies like Apache HTTP server, Apache Tomcat, Nginx, RESTful paradigms
• Documented experience in DevOps lifecycle with Gitlab and Github, CI/CD deployment
• Good knowledge of standard metadata formats in the environmental domain (e.g. DCAT-AP, CERIF)
• Documented experience with relational databases (MySQL, Postgres), noSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis), triplestores (Neo4j, Blazegraph)
• Experience with virtualization environments and tools (Kubernetes, Docker, KVM, VirtualBox)
• Good skills and documented experience in communication of results (reports and documentation writing, contribution to scientific publications)
• Collaborative skills and documented experience in participating to collaborative work in teams and leading small groups
• Working Professional Proficiency in Italian and English, with ability to speak, read and write both languages with minimal difficulty. Special Personal Attributes Required for the Position
